Discovery Central Locking - Stopped!!

Hi guys'n'gals

Me 300tdi M reg 3 door has decided not to lock or unlock via remote anymore. If I press the remote the indicators flash & the alarm arms/disarms but none of the doors lock.

Further to this I cannot lock the drivers door manually and have to lock it from the pass side by pushing the button down. I also have to lock the passenger door & tailgate with the key.

I have checked the fuse & it's fine.

Just wondered if this is a common fault?

Just a little update -
I have tried locking/unlocking with the spare key and am able to do so and also arm/disarm the alarm - still no luck with the c/locking though.
Any clues??

If the master solenoid thats the one in the drivers door, all others are slaves, is not functioning then the doors will not lock electrically. So remove the drivers door card and have a look inside the door it may just be the case of readjustment.

Just a thought - when you say readjustment - what exactly does that involve? Sorry - typical newbie question I guess!

With the door card removed and with plastic behind, u will see the servo fitted to a bracket if u can hear the servo trying to operate then slacken the four screws on the bracked and move slightly, the servo should then operate fully a dab of grease on the operating rods will also help.

If the servo doen't operate the the prob is electrical and I suggest u get yourself a Haynes Manual as it's all explained in there.

Hi guys n gals

I have finally got round to replacing the drivers side actuator on me disco but I have a problem!

I got an aftermarket one from Maplins and its gonig to fit OK but the colours dont correspond and being no auto sparky I,m a little stuck.

The colours are as follows:

Landy: Black Brown Pink Yellow Orange

Maplin: Black Brown Green Blue White

I have read theses have been fitted by others no prob but Im stuck!!

Any help appreciated!

I must be some kinda numpty! I can see the diagram at the Maplin site but it makes as much sense to me as reading upside down in Chinese!

Spose hoping for the best is not a good policy?!

Expect the black & brown go to the same but the others, well..

Give me a PC & i'll fix it no probs but autu electrics leave me scared!!
