Hi all,
hope this finds everyone well.

I'm looking at purchasing a Discovery 4 and during my research have seen online dimensions for the vehicle that seem to say it is just over 6' 6" wide with the mirrors folded in, so I assume thats the bodywork only wheel to wheel? I have to drive through central London and those blasted 6' "6 max width barriers more than I care for. Does anyone here have experience with them and a Disco 4?

Thanks!
Alex.

You should be ok as I seen long wheel base courier vans go through.
The only ones I know of are on Blackheath, which my disco goes through with ease as it's 5' 8" and a bit wide according to my handbook, and the barrier is below the door mirror height so no issues with them being out.
I expect you will have to go very carefully through the barriers, I usually do them at 20mph, I chicken out over that. :D

Thanks for the reply! Yeah I had a look into the van thing as I’ve driven VW Crafters through them, but weirdly they’re actually only 6’ 4” wide, as is my X5. It seems like the disco 4 is actually wider according to all the online specs I’ve seen.

Assuming the barriers are below mirror height? then yes they will fit, lots of car spec sites get confused with car widths with and without the mirrors, not forgetting any land rover is after all just a car.

If you mean those bits narrow to stop buses and lorries going down certain roads I have been through them with mine and never hit anything. If you have the surround camera system you can even see what you are hitting!
