Hi all, hope you all had a good christmas.

Yesterday i pulled up to visit my dads, landrover drove fine. But as i came back out she wouldnt start! Just kept cranking and cranking. Iv tried holding my foot on the accelerator while cranking, pumped 5 or 6 times on second click of the ignition, to see if it was an air lock in the fuel system, still nothing!

I have tried using easystart and still nothing, so in my opinion that eradicates a fueling problem and turns me towards a crank sensor or symilar.

While cranking i did however notice the m and s lights flashing on the dash, this has happened before and usually clears itself but just runs in safemode for a day or so.

I have tried disconnecting the pbattery for 10 minuites

Also while cranking most the dash lights are on too? Not sure if this is normal but on my bmw they all go out while cranking.

Thanks in advance!

:)

it should at least splutter on easy start whether any sensor works or not ,does fuel pump sound more whinny than normal ,low battery power can cause similar have you tried decent jump leads ,charging battery

I also tried putting the earth strap straight to the gearbox when we used the bmw to try to jump start it, just incase it was a dodgy earth strap, still nothing.

The jump leads were expensive, not the shoe lace thin type, so sould be carrying good power, fuel pump sounds the same

auto or manual?
explain this thing better pls cos this could be a problem... which lamps are on while cranking?... is the red(alarm) LED on aswell? ... do they go out after the self check then come back(except battery and oil lights)?

1. when you turn ignition on do you hear the pump?
2. after you pushed the throttle 5 times with ignition on pos.II did you see the MIL flashing?
3. measure the voltage on the battery while cranking ...if it fails under 10V give the battery a good overnight charge then try again.

if it's manual try to start it towed and if it will start this way we'll be closer to the answer

Hi
I had a non starting problem accompanied with lots of lights on the dash. (2003 D2)
Including stuff like over temp and no fuel. Happened intermittently with increasing
frequency.

It turned out to be one of the black earth wires going from the ecu near the battery was loose. Tighten it up -all fixed.

Thanks for your replies guys, thought it best to post the sollution incase anytome has a symilar problem.. Contaminated diesel!
