Hi I`m hoping someone can point me in the right direction. After getting my manual box back in and the fuel tank after dropping said fuel tank etc for chassis rust prevention I now cannot get the landy to start. I did the purge procedure & also got it cranking over & sometimes it would click then I would reset the key to off position and back to pos 2 and it would crank over. I checked the cps was connected and moved onto the starter to recheck all was clean and connected & i think I have found the fault, after noticing a black sheath that appears to contain a red & a blue wire (not certain as I cant find the wire strippers & light was poor) that had broken off somewhere. This wire comes out from the same bit of wiring loom that the white starter wire comes from. Anyone any ideas to where it goes and if it is the cause of my starting issues ?
P.S Hawkeye is`nt throwing anything up

Anyone ? I`ve done the purge procedure 6 times now, I`ll try to check fuel pressure at the regulator tonight & I have had it cranking over for a while without starting. All lights come on & go out as normal & I even put an earth onto the starter from the battery. Only other thing I can think of is the broken wires that I`ve found, wich I haven't yet been able to locate where they have come away from as of yet although it can`t be far as it`s not a long length of wire.

This is the wire thats broken. I have`nt really had chance to do anything to night, other than try James suggestion to check fuel flow wich does increase significantly when ignition is on pos 2. Will try the fuel press check at fpr tomorrow with a manual gauge

Stripped the wires back on the wiresthat appeared to of snapped off & as you can see the colours are as above pink with black trace & white with blue. I`ll have another root around now to see if I can find their previous home & also do a fuel pressure check.

Dont bother with the pressure, that's the crank sensor's wiring cos that't the only one with those colour wires and shielding so that's why it doest start cos the crank signal doesnt reach the ECU

Thank you, although it looked like the wires to the cps are in place. I must of caught it and snapped it whilst jacking up the engine to put engine mounts back in. At least I know fuel pump is ok as I had just under 4 bar of pressure with diesel leaking at the joints I could`nt do up tight. Back out for another look at the cps then.

Confused now then. Just got back under the motor and the cps wire is plugged in (at least I hope I havent mixed wires/connections up somewhere) and the wires going into the plug that I had connected to the cps had a black wire & a white wire with a brown trace ? So If I have mixed the wires/connections up where does that one go ? The other end of the plug that was attached to those wires has got to be somewhere under my motor .

OK will plug that in the right way then. Still cant see where the connector disappeared off from the end of the wiring. Apart from breakers where else would I get one ?
