Evening all, this is my first post in the discovery section as I have just bought myself a d2 td5, hope every one is well. I have just been crawling around underneath and I have found that the rear outrigger just in front of the rear drivers wheel is completely knackerd, there's more britle rusty metal then any thing shiny.
Has anybody on here had the pleasure of replacing one before that might have some tips or pointers? And wether you are able to get repair sections, I've had a search around but some far no success. Any help will be greatfully received, Gareth

you should really with disco 2 look underneathe rather than study service book, i look tomorrow ,no doubt rear rails are poor ,has it got ace pipes runnind down chassis rail drivers side aas there prone to rotting two and aint cheap

Disco 2 chassis' are not like rrc or disco 1, they rot very early on, not good.
Let's hope the engine does not go wrong as well, td5 not as good as a 300 tdi.

disco 2 chassis rot is appauling, they will all need body off chassis refurbs soon.

guaranteed richards chassis will start making those when d2s get a little older - remember a disco 2 is going to be a very desirable car soon when people are fed up of their 10 year old d3s costing them heavily.

we had a 51 plate d2 in work the other day, body was excellent, interior lovely, engine very sweet, chassis ****ED. looked not far off dangerous - very unpleasant.

id be looking at getting a galv chassis onto a d2 if i was wanting to keep one for any number of years, coudnt believe how weakened it was looking.

It does have ace, but the pipes arnt as bad as the outrigger, are the outriggers the same as disco 1s? Thought about cutting off a d1 one and grafting it on
