Long time lurker, first few posts here :)

I want to swap out the original tape-only head unit on my 2001 Discovery 2.

I have nothing against tapes but the tape player is now jiggered, so I thought I'd keep things OEM with one of these:

What I need to know is whether this is a straight swap dimension-wise, but more importantly if they share a common connector block to make the swap even easier?

Thanks in advance.

If that was a D2 head unit in 2001 then it will probably fit, although if not u may need a patch lead.

I'm pretty sure this is a later unit from 2004-ish onwards.

No problem to get a patch lead but I'd rather know in advance if one is required, rather than having to pull the existing unit out and then find I need to order one!

From distant memory, the DIN slot is there but the D2 has an oversize fascia on early models, and also yes they are simply on ISO connectors, but again it's easy to check.

Did an early D2 radio few years back but the fact I can't remember probably means it was quite uneventful thus you might be ok for a straight swap!

I went ahead and ordered the unit. Hopefully it will be here by the weekend.

From what I could gather, the new(ish) unit will have ISO sockets on the back.

I borrowed four small knitting needles off my wife and managed to prise out the old unit last night and I was pleasantly surprised to see that this too had ISO sockets and the loom had two ISO plugs fitted and not the single round pin block that many Discoveries seem to have had fitted.

Fingers crossed it will be a simple 10 minute job to swap them over once the replacement arrives.
