Just runs battery flat before startingNew battery and heater plugs
it wont be heater plugs more likely drawing in air usual places are steel elbows on the pipes in the sender unit under cover in boot floor or lift pump or sedimenter on inside of chassis o/s rear wheel area, leaking leak off pipes can cause poor staring tooJust runs battery flat before starting
AutoWhat if the starter has a problem as the current draw is to high while cranking? ... try to bump start it and if it starts well replace the starter
You should have mentioned the exact type cos if it's the one with the DDS then it can be some ECU problem tooAuto

R reg 1997 tdi 2.5 only had 7days all new to me seller said something about water separator took off don’t know this is the adDepending on age, It could be EDC rather than DDS ( I'm guessing this is what you meant - deffo not having a go at you)
IIRC, EDC was from chassis "MA" ( auto only ), and DDS was later, possibly "VA" .... (SWMBO's D1 manual is DDS, my auto was EDC)
OP, don't quote me on the above, look it up online, but we still need to know whether it is EDC or not
check the simple stuff first - air in the fuel system is quite normal for a vehicle of this age, and all the Bosch FIP's are pretty tolerant of it, to a point ...... it does sound as though you might be beyond this point![]()
New to all this no idea what dds Is seller said slow starter lift pump or air lift pump works when open bleed bolt am I right carnt be that thenYou should have mentioned the exact type cos if it's the one with the DDS then it can be some ECU problem too
