Need something to get about this winter. Don't have much to spend but fancy a Decent Disco, would rather have a cheaper Disco1 300Tdi then 2 TD5 .
I know there will be a lot of rot boxes about, was looking at this one, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LAND-ROVER-DISCOVERY-XS-TDI-4x4-JUST-BEEN-M-O-T-READY-TO-GO/303323785056 Anyone know this garage ?
Seems to sound good, have asked the seller for more pics of chassis ect,
Thing is if I do go for it, it will be bought Unseen, as don't have the time to go and look. I would have to get it brought up after buying. Done this a couple of times over the years and been OK up to now.

Half a world away, but bought mine on eBay sight unseen 8 year ago, it had a broken clutch release arm, so not very drivable but I drove it anyway, 1800klms back home from Brisbane... interesting. To be honest it's been a great reliable vehicle after fixing the clutch, it has no rust because it came from a desert region, I'll keep it until I'm finished.
So, I'd say,go with your "gut", could be a good buy.

No way id buy it without looking at it the mot advisory's look interesting.....
All tyres have sidewall bulges if any cars came into my garage with any defects on the s/w id be advising
replacements, will be needing brakes & bearings soon could be a bargaining lever to get it at a lower price.
Looks as if it will need a bit of welding soon as they all do.

I'm with Kevstar, seems a high price considering all the advisories. And if the tyres have bulges in them, a) the tyres should have been replaced, b) if they've not been replaced, I'd question the MOT full stops. Tyre bulges are an MOT failure (as far as I'm aware). Looking at the tyres in the photos on the ad, they've been on for a while. and that cut......if it's down to the sidewall plies, again, it's an mot failure.

At lest one of the rear arches will need doing soon. So figure that into future maintenance, and potentially the boot floor.

Personally, for that price, steer clear!!! You'll find much better D1's on the different Facebook selling pages and different Landy/Discovery pages/groups. Hell, give me your name and I'll add you on facebook, then, depending on how far you want to travel, I'll keep a look out and even help find something on FB for you, but please don't blow your money on this one without going over it thoroughly.

He has dropped to 1300, but still not sure after reading replies from here.
Waiting to sell a Pickup so I f I can raise the cash will offer him no more then a grand.
I can use my Wife's face book thingy , where is the best places on there for selling Landys ?

Check the MOT history, it'll some idea of how well the previous owner looked after it ...

Ooops, just seen that that's been dealt with ....

It's very expensive with a lot of work to do ...

Rubber on the corners isn't cheap, then there's what else isn't done ...

As has been said the welding for next summer ... rear arches ... boot ... usually sills and then front arches ...

We not mentioned brakes, lines and any other mechanicins ....

If you can fabricate and weld it might be worth a grand to you .... otherwise knock him hard ...

Pretty good MOT history on Kermit with all mechanical work done, but no mention of corrosion so if you go see it check the weak spots carefully.
Also it would be 1k cheaper if it didn't have all the kit on so you're buying someone's toy that either has a problem with the drive line or the rust is getting hold.
I personally dont like heavily modified vehicles and would price it at £1500...

Good shout Swisstoe, I'd personally always say get something thats not been heavily modded or resprayed, at least then, if you want to add mods, you can make sure it's done properly, and get also get the look you want. A respray may also be hiding issues like rust that he's wanting to escape.

I reckon the 1998 Disco 1 in marmaduke's post could be a bloody good one!! If I was in the market for another Disco, I'd be calling about this one myself!!
