Did all Discos come with Anti roll bars as standard ?

Pretty sure they did - the original RRC ( on which the D1 was based ) was not, and they were known for their lean angles in corners - Hence LR fitted them to the D1 from the start - also given yours is a 97, and therefore quite a late one in the grand scheme of things, I would suspect it had them standard - both ours are '97's, and have them.....( and the 95 and 96 ones I had also had them )....

Couldn’t you argue that you int a mechanic and you have no idea wot an anti roll bar is, or whether the car car has been modded in any way obvious???

I think the real issue is that you'd potentially expose yourself to some pretty serious corporate bullying should the sh*t hit the round thing - and it'd get very complex, very quickly .... this is sort of why mods have to be declared - under the ins co's duty of care, they have to give you the opportunity to advise them of such things, and thus if you don't, then they can get all arsey about it .... plus if you don't know, they could even suggest you have the vehicle independently inspected .... it all gets pretty silly very quickly....

Got to be loads of Other vehicles out there with the same predicament, Chance you take I suppose.

Amen - depends how much you would have to loose IMHO - I.E. insurance declared void due undeclared mods during large claim, and you end up bankrupt..... It's unlikely, but ....

I believe it helps articulation when you're off roading, mine's got a 2" lift and dislocation cones
Only wanted a decent Disco , as a daily driver, as we live on a steep bank going in to estate and up and down my Yard where I keep defender and we have dogs up there too, Looked at a few and asked on here about a couple that I was going to take a chance on getting sent up unseen, but after asking more questions about them, turns out most of them needed a lot of welding, and probably would have needed work on suspension and brakes ect. But couldn't refuse Kermit. for what I paid for him ;) Then again there is an off road club up here so might have a couple of outings with them if I get the chance. But Kermit will do just fine as my daily driver in the mean time.

You still haven't said how much you paid for it :p

Got to see it to really see how good it is, Then again I am no expert but really looks OK to me. Mind you time will tell when I finally get it insured and out on the road, to see how it drives, but it did drive down the A1 to me the 40 or so miles OK, with no problems. Not sure if Ive paid to much or not, as just went on my own, should have really took someone experienced with me.
What does anyone think something like this is worth ? Was it worth the 28 hundred quid it was on Ebay for probably not ?? I paid no where near that ;)

It probably wasn't worth £2800 .... but it doesn't matter ... provided it is worth what you paid for it to you, then all is well - we paid more than mine was worth .... and less than SWMBO's was worth, so ....

IMHO, just make sure is on agreed value insurance :) , with all mods declared, and enjoy it :)

I should hope not, I sold this last year and struggled to make a grand with 12 months mot:oops:

For two and a half grand I would have delivered my own to your door :p

Like Defenders they went up and down in price over the years, When I was looking for one a few years back the prices were sky high, I bought one and a year later when I decided to sell it after spending a good few quid on it as you do, the prices had dropped again.
That's a bargain at a Grand, you should have held on and got what you wanted.
Anyway I know you are all dying to know what I paid. It was £1600 Got to be worth that all day long, with new suspension and tyres ect.. Some people might say I'm Mad for paying that but I'm Happy with it.
Now its time for all the questions as it does have a couple of the common niggly Disco faults.
Kermit has the same Interior as yours will get more pics up when I give it a good clean.
Thanks for help so far.

You've done alright for that price, you should have a fair few months of free motoring for that

Ive been losing sleep wondering what you paid for Kermit and did mention a max of £1500 so glad you managed to get close to this figure.
Take to local car wash and get the chassis jet washed, all that damp mud over winter will do it no good.
Good luck:)

Gave Kermit a good jet wash today, Found some more rust on chassis but nothing to bad just surface, although I did make the hole in other pic bigger, but that's the only bad place , so will get it sorted when I can.
Cleaned engine too and I'm pretty sure that the leak is coming from the breather in pic, might be wrong but time will tell, I have ordered O ring and will take it off and clean it out. Also one of the pipes seems to be to long and kinked, not sure if that would make a difference ??, so think I will shorten it.
Cant get the O rings till Wednesday so should be able to tell where oil is coming out by then.

I think you got a good deal mate ive seen loads of pos selling for more.

You did well for that money - and as I already said, it's your money ! :)

They are going up in value - and the 3dr's will be ahead of the game due their rarity ( co they rot worse than the 5dr :(:mad::mad::mad: )

IMHO, if you look after that, it will look after you.

Doesn't look like you have any EGR pipework - this is supposed to be an MOT fail now ... so worth getting some off fleabay
