hey everyone, i have a discovery 300 tdi mk 1 with the old austin maestro van rear lights, what i am wanting to do is take the rear cornors of a pre face lift discovery 2 td5/v8 and put them on mine with the lights. was just wondering if anyone has tried this at all and know what work is involved for example are the mountings the same, same size etc.
Ceers Steve

awww man i wanna see it now lol dont live far from donny lol, well me and my neighbour were in his kitchen and we got on the idea coz my rear on mine is so ugly its unbelievable and disco two rear ends are so nice i so wanna do it be very few aswell but at least i no its possible

haha come on mr noisy its just out of the rover parts bin and u have the v8 disco with the sub and gas stove in back arnt you?

The whole car was parts bin :D

If I'm honest though I think the rear end is more appealing than the front. They need a lift and big tyres to look really good though.

ANYWAY yes it's me mate, hello! :5bseeya:

I used to prefer the 200 front. I thought the 300 front was an abortion and actually wanted to write to landrover to ask them to change it back when I first saw one on the cover of Autocar. (I was 10)
Now I prefer the 300 front end.

I used to think the transit front was the same as the 200 Disco front... see previous comment about age...

Maybe we should start a thread of guess the parts bin addition, eg

Maestro van rear lights
Sherpa front light
Rangerover doors
etc

haha byw i was the guy dropping the bacon everywhere the other week lol and it is quite bad the discovery is a good all round vehicle but it just has some design faults i replaced the indicators with clear ones and put td5 headlights in it to spice it up a bit

Oh hi mate, urm, Steve?! (hopefully!)

Anyway nice one, its all about modifying bits and pieces to get it to your liking. Great thing about td5 headlamps is that they actually work :)

door handles are off an austin princess... but I love em!

I have no proof of this but the general consensus is they are quite a bit better and a straight fit.

- anything will fit... its just a matter of time and effort! :) After all, we've already covered the fact that land rover made the whole vehicle from spare parts!! lol

yeh its steve mister noisey and it is all about preference and i have td5 front headlamps there the same in light emitting but the light is about a 1cm shorter on the botttom so they dont quite fully fit leaving gaps at bottom but nothing too noticable, i have a second discovery that im looking at taking the rear pillars off atm but i started taking side panel off and not pillar i no they are welded on with td5 but i can get around that but are they on the 300tdi

Disco 1 corner panels are spot welded to quarter panel but screwed/glued to inner body in the door jam. They will wiggle off the quarters without much trouble, but they won't go back on without a fight so don't change your mind half way through!

hmmm see id rather not weld them cause i cnt afford even thought two of my brothers are welders lol so its either rivet or nut and bolt, plus id rather do it all while the side panel is on the car as i have a 3 door and its too big to mess about with
