Hai, first time around,
My disco v8 2001 (4.0) has a problem with the coolant. Ik seemed to use it. This was diagnosed to a leaking waterpump which was replaced. But I also thought about cracks etc as it runs with to much white smoke. Tday I thought of curing this a bit by adding barsleak stop leak into the waterways ( directly in the main passage). THis gives me more problems. The engine overheast. The expansion tank overflows.
I may have left to much air in the system ( do not know how to get it out). Or the thermostat is blocked ( where is that one) or, worse, there is a blockage elsewhere. This is not suppost to happen with this product ( I was looking for Wondarweld , but could not find ik)
Any Idea's
Regards

If it pushing pressure into the coolant system then you should be able to have a sniff test unless its LPG (don't show up). Local mechanic will do the test for free or a drink. The liners in the 3.950 are top hat liners so would have thought they were the same in the later models to (i maybe wrong). Good luck and welcome to the funny farm.

It is not the bars that is the prob , but other things as suggested , and you probably did not get the system bled properly . The white smoke is steam , you get quite a lot on start up with V8 , due condensate in ex sys . This should clear within a mile or so. If you get it every time you leave idling , then good sign its from water jacket . You can sometimes see in ex ports which is burning coolant . Its the clean one as water gets rid of all the carbon . I think ist a good possability that it is the head gasket when you say a lot of smoke, does fluid come out of the exhaust as well, when my gasket went it put all my water went out of my exhaust system, I got a new head gasket set, and got my heads skimmed at about £25 each head put new gasket on and filled up with water and its still there now 3 months later good job and it only took a day to do:D

Hi i had a simlar problem with my 4.6 rangie, i was loosing water not a lot ,i checked everything but could not find anything then i heared about this product called k-seal so i bought some put it in , its so easy, and it cured the problem that was 11 months ago. Hope this helps :)

Hi,
I do not know that product. I am in the netherlands, so maybe not available here. I also know Wondarweld, which should be available. But I do not dare anymore. Currently I am thinking about replacing the block with a coscast one. And am looking for a place to do this ( as My time is very limited at the moment). I am somewhat confused bij the different discussions on the subject. Top hat liners or Coscast Block. In my (humble) opinion the TH liners do not really fix the problem. I thought that the th liners were part of the coscast block. Machining the new block to accept TH liners seems the best but a bit over the top. Replacing the block seems more simple than tkaing the old one to have it machines.
Reading everything I think I go for the new block. Any comments or remarks?

Cheers Duco
Just replaced the rear Air spring ( is really simple!)

Hi Kev,
Yes. I did check that one ( and also the thermostat. They are both ok.. I am still awaiting some offers for the replacement. Strangely a dutch specialist does not even know about the new blocks ( coscast) and is unhappy to try them. Offer a revised block for double the price!
regards
and thanks
