Hi people.
I was just wondering if anyone had put the small discovery 1 rear folding seats into the rear of a defender before. I have some spare but haven't had a look yet to see if it will work, as I work away during the week.

Can this/has this been achieved?

Cheers
Alex

Did it, had to cut the wheel box though. Piece of **** and I opted for the forward facing ones. The bracket for the floor is a bit cumbersome though and I've had to raise it up a couple inches otherwise it wouldnt be very comfortable for anyone sitting in it and it would interfere with wheel travel. Works fine though, even if it doesn't look pretty

Here y'are. Not very neat or pretty as I did it in a hurry for a reason but its solid and very secure. Might tidy up the box I've cut at some point in the future but it'll do for me. I was talking to Doc about an alternative to the cumbersome bracket on the floor but haven't got round to a solution yet, as I said it needed to be raised up slightly for comfort and wheel travel

Ahhh I see, these are from a disco 2 aren't they?

Yup. I figured they would be much easier to fit in and more user friendly than the sideways facing ones. I originally had a 3 point belt on it before I took my hardtop off and it was perfect for a kid to sit in lol. Got a lap belt on it now but with a truck cab it might be a bit chilly, still useable though for the rare occasions that I need to have 3 passengers

Can be unbolted if need be, its only 4 bolts. Plus its no different really to bolting in transit seats, benches or forward facing seats from a newer defender

Err I may be missing something here but why did you need to cut into the "wheel box"?

Link didn't work, could you post pics?

You could bolt it directly to the wheelbox if you wanted but then its going to sit within the load area. Also I raised my bracket up a few inches from the floor so that someone sitting there had a bit more leg room and also to stop the wheel hitting the wheel box recess should it travel up that far. However I have since noticed that with 750x16 tyres they're skinny enough to just miss it.

I cut and fitted mine so that it would fold in out of the way and so that I can fit another one on the opposite side if I wanted so that two can fit side by side. I've got the other seat, just haven't got round to fitting it in yet.

This would be a good idea as the dickie seats would fold away better and even if you had four of these seats fitted in the back of a 90 they wouldn't take up to much room either ;)

Exactly my thinking mate, that way I can get a cubby box in the front and have 2 extra seats in the rear if needed that can fold away neatly or possibly even 4 at a later date.
