If you're lucky you can get a big bottle from the tip for free a lot cheaper than having to hire one. There was a couple near me

well spent an hour or soo at it today after work :)

not much done but i need to get the injection pump off it to be able to give to to a friend of mine this weekend to rebuild for me :) so managed to get the viscous fan off, rad&oil cooler out, water pipes and oil pipes have been moved out of the way and the aux belt has come off (but needs to go back on as i forgot to loosen the PAS pulley bolts :( )

am thinking whilst it is all apart new cam belt kit water pump and see if i need to put the upgraded cam belt kit on it

Take off IP stop solenoid wire, put socket and breaker bar on nut with breaker bar under chassis near steering box, check the IP solenoid wire is disconnected, flick ignition switch to start position and release immediately, check if nut is loose, repeat previous until loose (should only take one flick)

well had a couple of hours at it today but i can't get the bolt off that holds the crank pulley on :( any ideas?

Sorry for not trawling right through the thread - manual or auto? If manual, put it in gear (5th high) and chock the wheels and try it. If the clutch slips, be a bit more agressive on the bar and it should 'shock' it off. It worked for me..........but when I went to tighten it, I snapped a 1/2" breaker bar (don't know my own strength!)

nothing much to really say, hopefully getting the injection pump off tomorrow and that'll get sent off then i'm just waiting on the welding, powder coaters have informed me that the bumper is ready so that'll prob get picked up on thursday then tha'll have all the plastic and washer jets put back on whilst i'm waiting for the pump, got the odd bit of electrical left to do, spider bypass has to go in, the top lights need to be run through the fuse block and wired to the battery (am waiting for the replacement win and battery carrier to go in) alternator needs replacing as current one squeeks, will replace the speaker cables so i can uprate the speakers, need to run cables into the boot for an amp, also need to run wires for an aux 12V socket in the boot, then the interior needs to go back in (once the welding has been done and the floor painted with some sort of anti rust and that is all i can think of for now

Well had a day playing with the landy :) first of al;l while i was waiting for some helpers i part polished the bonnet :)

SAM_0215.jpg

with a bit of red oxide
SAM_0216.jpg

just the drivers side foorwell, inner wheel arch and the boot floor supports left to weld, hopefully badger will get some free time soon to come and do the arch for me :) also need to get a bigger bottle of gas as i brought one from halfords and 5 mins later and it's empty :(

So been a long day but not much to show :(
Started off by going to the scrappy to get some weldable metal, then for a random drive :S
then we got to work :) emptied everytihng out of my shed on wheels and started poking holes in the rust untill we ended up with this
SAM_0223.jpg

SAM_0224.jpg

Then a bit of fillering
SAM_0222.jpg

then started painting some rust converter on
SAM_0227.jpg

SAM_0225.jpg

then the c-pillar to arch went from this
SAM_0221.jpg

to this
SAM_0226.jpg

more fillering and welding to come next time :) might just buy the boot floor and side supports off the bay and get a new lot welded in, just not sure if my welder is upto it

so i got an email off the people powder coating my bumper on the 7th telling me that it would be ready to collect on the 11th, well i couldn't collect because i was getting the car ready for FCS so i rang them this morning to make sure it was ok to go and pick up :) so 20 min drive to the place got there and where i left it was my bumper :D only let down is they chemically stripped it but haven't powder coated it yet :S they have a funny kind of ready, they assure me it'll be ready for thursday tho so ima try and get some discount on it for wasting my time
So far they're not doing very well

well i picked the bumper up today :) very pleased :) there is so much satisfaction when you pay someone else to do a deicent job :)
SAM_0244.jpg

SAM_0245.jpg

there is still a bit of pitting but nothing major
SAM_0246.jpg

they even cleaned the threads off for me :)
SAM_0247.jpg

SAM_0248.jpg

Headlight washers went on
SAM_0249.jpg

new washer pipe (the old stuff had gone solid and had to be cut off
SAM_0250.jpg

test fitted the bumper to see what i'd look like :)
SAM_0253.jpg

i think i'm going to spray the numberplate holder satin black because it's too faded for the bumper :(
also seeing as the bumper has just been powder coated should i be waxing it or polishing it to make it last? and when i paint the plate holder should i lacqure it?
also some things through the post today :)
SAM_0254.jpg

carpet will be going back in the front soon :)

You will have to 'plasticote' the number plate holder. Also you can now get satin finish laquer from car paint/bodyshop suppliers. Might be worth looking into.

So at the moment i'm waiting on the injection pump to come back to me :) it's at a friends in devon getting all the seals replaced and some modifications to the internal workings, then that'll go back on along with a new cam belt kit and rear crank seal :) then it's just the welding that is left to do, the inner wing needs to be cut out and the replacement welded in, and the boot floor and side supports need to come out and when i get the money the replacement boot floor kit will go in, just hoping that when it all needs doing badger will be able to come help me
then it should just be a case of taxing it testing it and getting it insured

Well had a couple of hours at it today :) as always i took pics :)
Started off by removing all the crap it's gathered over the months
SAM_0308.jpg

Then i cleaned all the dust and dirt out and got busy with the POR15
SAM_0304.jpg

SAM_0305.jpg

SAM_0306.jpg

SAM_0306.jpg

pretty much all nice and rust proofed now :thumbs
then i got busy putting the sound proofing back in (quite difficult as the paint was still a tad tacky)
SAM_0309.jpg

SAM_0310.jpg

The spider bypass got put in it's proper home then i started to put the dash back in
SAM_0314.jpg

Random pic of one of the earthing blocks i used for the addional switch and relay
SAM_0311.jpg

Anyone planning on using POR15 i'll advise this, wear gloves i've spent a good half hour scrubbing my hands with the likes of petrol, white spirit and oil and grime remover and i can't get my hands clean :( am left with hands like this now
SAM_0317.jpg
