has anyone got any first hand experience of tyre width versus mpg..... the wifes pug 306 does crap mpg... paret is her driving style and short runs but im beginning to suspect the 195/55 tyres are partly to blame... its only doing arround 40 mpg

my 200tdi is on 205s normally does 32 ish pottering locally, in the last fortnight ive done several long runs at 70mph which has dropped the mpg down into the high twenties
thats not a over size tyre for the car ,as long as the preasures are ok and wheel alignment is ok cant see a it makeing much diffrance.
next time it heeds boots have a word with your local tyre man

my 300 shape v8, on lpg around town all local will get 9.5mpg if you drive like a tool, or if you drive like a girl pants, get 15-18mpg but at £0.69 a litre a gallon is loke £3.15 so gives equal to 28-35mpgish , plis you get a v8 power when needed and noise! :) , would hate to fuel it if it was just petrol

Wouldn't it be great to be able to afford it though...:D

Yeah :( cant see that happening any time soon :( check out fairfuel uk.com ! They got the august 3p fuel duty rise pushed 6months away!!

Yes I signed it when I saw it posted here on LZ...it's going to take alot more than a 6 month deferral to get the economy kick started though...we are in a bloody shambles...5 years of recession and no light yet at the end of the tunnel :( if there is an end..!

Reckon I'm getting about 23 out of my 300 auto. Currently costing about 30p/mile, so about £30 for 100 miles. I walk a lot :)

Just worked out that on my last holiday I was 1/2 towing the caravan, 1/2 country driving on single track roads etc so not getting up to speed for any length of time - 15.9 mpg from my auto. Time for a change me thinks
