y get a disco if hes bothered about mpg its not miles per gallon its smiles per gallon thats the main bit:p

He's not that botherd about mpg , i just thought id find out for him to sway him to buy one (his t4 does f all mpg)
Smiles per gallon you say, an orgasmic ride would defently sway him :beer2:

I get an average of 30mpg with a mix of "****e I'm going to miss my ferry" and "feck it I'll get there when I get there" driving.
Big difference between 55 and 70 mph, but who's counting :D

dirrerant motor i know,
i new my wife sorry v8 was a gobbler when i got it, stick some in it pay day bomb about till empty park it up till next time.
shes just a pay thing
:beer2:

I find it varies with thetype of use. Recently on a trip from Portsmouth to Scotland, taking it easy, it did over 34, but used locally on short trips we are lucky to get 27.

My Td5 was getting 33/34 with about 2/3rds long journey 1/3rd 40/50mph zone urban and that was with what I now know to be diesel filling the sump...200tdi was a bloody good engine IMO

My 98 300tdi returns 30 to 32 mpg time after time. Thats 80% urban and 20% 60mph on motorway, I also tow a small two axle trailer and a car trailer with car on short journies (10 - 15 miles) and the fuel consumption remains at 30 to 32 mpg

I'm going to try thinner tyres when I replace them to see if the mileage per gallon is better, I'm on 235's at the moment and they are a bit wide for my taste.:)

has anyone got any first hand experience of tyre width versus mpg..... the wifes pug 306 does crap mpg... paret is her driving style and short runs but im beginning to suspect the 195/55 tyres are partly to blame... its only doing arround 40 mpg

my 200tdi is on 205s normally does 32 ish pottering locally, in the last fortnight ive done several long runs at 70mph which has dropped the mpg down into the high twenties

I usually add about 3 psi over the recommended pressure and it does make a difference...my Td5 has 235's on but I'm thinking back to my 200tdi and I had 205 mud and snow tyres on it for the most part...that one gave me the best mileage...

Gave me the most enjoyment too actually...was off road quite alot with it...
