Locked car using keyfob, wnt to do some shopping, came back and keyfob wouldn't work. In the end had to call services out and they hotwired it for me so I could get home. Been to local dealer and he says batteries in key are ok and gave me some advice on what to do i.e. switch on, press bonnet switch, etc etc. But doesn't make any difference - anyone give me some advice on this please.

had the same prob with my 300tdi. changed batts and tried to reprogramme. luckily still had the spare that worked but have had to bite the bullet and renew the duff one. still waiting for the new one to turn up (Dodgy Dad contact?) and then have to get it done by a landy dealer to get it working..

Hi,

this happened to me a coule of weeks back, i had just returned from holiday. i used the old fashioned way of opening the car (key in lock) and prayed the alrm did not sound (which it didn't) i ran the car for a bit and it was all ok from there.... maybe if the battery gets a bit low the sensor for the key isn't so good? maybe it needed a bit of a clean?

You hear about this kind of thing so much, I used to have the same problem all the time with the disco I had. I reckon the answer is to junk the central locking, alarm and immobiliser and convert everything to manual. Main reason I don't have a disco now is cos of the mad electrics:D
