Hey everyone.. wandering if you can help me, I am a mom with 5 kids and need my car for the school runs etc.. I had a mechanic out who said I need a new XYZ switch but I can't find anywhere that supplies them. I can't get to a garage as obviously the car wont start and I want to cry 🤣 help please. My dad bought me the car and everything has been checked over engine belts etc are fine. I put in a new battery yesterday. I've been under the car twice and can't even find the switch on the passenger side by the gearbox 😫 where the hell is it?! 😆

'Mom'? are you in the US? XYZ sensors are usually on manual transmissions(not common in US), and generally don't prevent the vehicle starting. Fault codes relating to these are usually a symptom of a slipping clutch.
Maybe try a different mobile technician.

It's a common problem as the aircon drain is just above the XYZ switch and causes a constant flow of water to corode the internals.
New ones are expensive if you can actually find one, Hopefully someone with more knowledge of them will be along shortly, but I believe they can be refurbished although it's not very easy.
Also worth checking your battery is good as this can affect the switch.

Thankyou so much, yes I've just put in a new battery and this gave me no luck, I've just found someone on ebay who refurbishes them for 65 pounds but now I have to locate it and remove it myself. I've been under twice but can't even see it. Fun times 🤣 thankyou for the reply.

Hi, if you dont have the M+S lights on just a flashing D(watch it better to not be a crossed B) the problem is not with the XYZ switch so you'll work in vain on that... when you say it doesnt start, is it cranking but no "fire" or not cranking at all?
