Bought an L reg 300tdi for £1700 3 weeks or so ago and I've not missed the '99 BMW 5 series one bit.
When we bought the disco just we looked round at a couple of others and bought one of e-bay pretty much on gut instinct. missed a bit of rust in the rear floor and a few other little spots but I love the car and so does the OH and the kids.

It's been great to drive not fast but nice to be in. Apart from a sqeuaky noise that was cured by WD40 it's not lead me to think AHHHH disco = mistake.

Only thing I'd maybe prefer now I think about it is a defender but not good for kids so a disco suits just fine for now.

Find a good un and buy it.

Hello

I've owned two disco 200 tdi's in the last four years and they are excellent the main reasons i think so are 1) heritage going back to 1948 or beyond
2) practicle
3) all landrovers look good clean or covered in mud and a few dents
4) they do what it says on the badge.
if you are even contemplating buying an inferior jap or other my advice is don't you will always be thinking what if I had a landrover ?

cheers

I have had a 1993 200tdi for 6 years now and i have driven it on and off road. My local landy parts dealer must of had £300 in service and replacement parts in that time off me,thats why iam going to buy another discovery, but a 300tdi this time. They are the best cars for tight arses like me who come out in a cold sweat when i have to take it to a garage, thats why i am selling a mint 1999 Range Rover P38DSE
