Disco door locks.

Can any one help. I have a 1996 discovery and the locks on both front doors are faulty. (faults happened at different times) The locks opens with the key but then the button falls down a couple of millimetres and you can't open the doors with the outside or inside handle. You have to put the key in lock on full turn and pull the handle at the same time. The same applies when in the car you have to lift the button and pull the handle at the same time. I have looked inside the door panel but do not know what I can do. I would appreciate any help. p.s. The back doors are OK.

This is a very common problen on the disco.
The problem is a small spring on the lock that breaks, you have 2 choices, Replace the whole lock (i think there about £50+vat) or you can buy the springs from a guy on ebay and do it yourself.

another fix - when i had the door panels off mine i found its quite easy when putting them back on to apply to much pressure on the door lock sticking through the hole at the top. - causing the locks to play up. try pushing the panel around a bit or pulling it off and checking to make sure the plastic underneath is not catching on somthing?
