Right chaps I know the old alarm/imob has been covered god knows how many times but I cant seem to find a diffinative answer for my prob?
My alarm keeps going off ive checked all the switches interior sensor (it even does it when locked with the key) etc and no joy :-( its got to a point that the indicators are flashing that often its killed my battery! The thing is I took the battery off gave it an over night charge and scince puting it back on I cant say ive noticed it playing up, could a weak battery cause the alarm to act daft? The imob/central locking etc still works fine
The disco is a 96 300tdi with the 2 button fob any tips what to try or what it could be greatfuly recieve as im starting to pull nx hair out!
Thanks in advance pete

Change the green alarm box and remote, the alarm side of a disco is a right pain in the rear.

There is so much that really cannot be checked, unless you swap the parts.

I got the inside of mine wet and screwed up the green box, luckily a mate had a spare remote and box so was easy to swap over and diagnose the issue.

I'm sure others can offer a more definitive solution, sorry but that's about all I know.

thanks for the quick reply, i had a funny feeling you was gonna say that, i didnt want to go and buy a new battery to find out it was the green alarm box and visa versa, am i right in thinking that ill need to buy a new box with a fob already paired to it to keep my rcl coz if i just buy a box ill will i need a spider bypass aswell to get round the imob?

I'm not necessarily saying that this is the cause of your issues. But only drawing from my own experience.

Yes the fob and box need to be paired. Just look for a second hand box and fob on ebay. Even if it doesn't cure your problems, it's always a handy spare part to have in the garage.

thanks for the advice again, found 1 on ebay, at just under £50 posted with a paired fob, suppose its cheaper than buying a new battery (like i nearly did), thanks again and fingers crossed, just gonna have to disconect the battery every night stop it draining it!

Rather than disconnect the battery every night, try just disconnecting the alarm box.

Replacement alarm ecu's
Your alarm system is voltage drop sensoring, any drop in battery voltage will activate the alarm the reason unlocking with the key and the activation of the central locking sounds the alarm it should also sound on disconnection of the vehicles battery assuming the alarm sounders battery backup is still ok which is doubtful unless it's been replaced recently.

I think he has solved the issue already.
