Hi, can any one help i have had my disco 300tdi for about 18 months now , most times it will start fine but sometimes it will not start at all the preheat light will go out instantly and when you try to start it is like the battery is dead flat leave it for 10 minutes sometimes more sometimes less and it will start no problem you know when it is going to start as the preheat light will stay on for 8 to 10 seconds , i have bypassed the spyder ,battery is new , earth straps cleaned getting desperate now as am going wales in 2 weeks ,allways seems to happen when you are in a hurry or in petrol station any help would be appreciated as getting stressed now thanks.

Are you getting a live feed to the starter motor when the key is turned to the 'crank' position?

when you try to crank engine there is nothing at all it is like the battery has been disconnected , bought a by pass plug from swinfield cooper in leicester and removed spyder yes there is a relay if it was faulty would that kill every thing else , i read some where that there is a brown wire that goes to a connection wich corrodes if the sun roof has leaked any body got any more info on that one

Before you start ripping your dash apart looking for wires you need to check that there is/isn't voltage going to the starter motor when the key is turned to the crank position.:doh::doh:

does bypassing the spyder bypass the immobiliser? did you try locking and unlocking it with the remote when it does it?

Hi, yes tried locking unlocking give the key a shake in ignition yes you take the box of tricks out all together it is very annoying as i thought that would cure the problem
