Disco 300 wonky bonnet

Evening all!

First, a moment's silence for the 300 tdi I wrote off on Good Friday... I swerved to avoid a baby rabbit and collided with a very old, very large flint wall. We all survived, my lovely landy did not.

However, I am picking up another one tomorrow which has a wealth of problems to sort out!

Firstly, the bonnet seems to be skewed slightly to the right as you look at it... it is flat, if you see what I mean, but I can get a finger in the gap with the wing on one side but barely slip a fag paper in the corresponding gap on the other side.

Any suggestions any body? Thanks in advance! FL
 
Should be able to re-align it by adjusting the bonnet hinges, just make sure the retaining catch still lines up (ideally a 2 person job).
 
when you choose not to swerve to avoid the baby rabbit DO NOT make a sound.. even a sharp intake of breath will get the rest of the car to look up and spot the blighter as it goes under the car braniding you bunny killer forever.. especially if there's a young lady in the car with you..

I'll have a crack at the bonnet hinges... thanks for the tip!

I shall also practice squishing the little blighters with extreme insouciance...

T'is best to start with little critter's, an Alsation ran out of a garden & straight into our Disco a few weeks back, gave us no time to react:eek:, the thump & resulting YELP & Whining was quite horrible. (Dog only had a bruised leg though despite tyre going over it). I think the dog was more annoyed at us stopping her bid for freedom though:doh:

Did the rabbit stop and apologise for the accident that had occurred due to his poor understanding of the green cross code?

I always favour swerving to avoid a wall and hitting a rabbit, it's much less painful, even if you are branded with the name "rabbit killer" or all of eternity!

It may be worth checking the chassis, slam panel, etc to make sure that the wonky bonnet isn't the result of a crunch.
