Just this minute finished up the recommission of the EAS on a friends DSE, rebuilt compressor and valveblock along with 4 new bags..

A full systems check was done and 0 leaks found upon starting her up I noticed after the system had primed the compressor was very much audible inside the car when it cut in/out, even with that rattly old lump up front doing its best old tractor impression. ;)

The main issue was the washers that came with the car were a standard stainless flat washer affair, quite common for the stock concave washers to be lost or discarded.

A quick dig around my shed found some appropriate pieces that could be used, however like the washers already fitted they were flat.
In case you haven't already guessed they need to be concave ;)

A quick massage with a ball-peen hammer will do the trick if you hit it right ;) :)

Now equipped with my "new" concave washers they were fitted...

Believe it or not there is a "wrong way" to fit them.. ;)

The correct way is......................

The lower washer goes "Concave Side Down"
The Upper washer goes "Concave Side Up"

This allows the compressor to float on the rubber bushes, which is how it should be... ;)

The nuts also need to only be slightly more than finger tight, factory is 7nm however this was retracted due to complaints about vibrations/noise making its way into the cabin, "1nm" was the new figure, as you can guess this is barely more than finger tight, depending on the person ;)

Kind of hard to see on mine, but they're the right orientation ;)

And the only way I can tell its running or not is to pop the bonnet and place my hand on the box "fnarr" ;)

Whereas before the infernal "buzzz" of the cumpressor was audible at all times in the cabin... :D

Her DSE now is quiet as a mouse at least with the EAS, the engine still makes a racket ;)

Might be useful to some

Or not ;)

Some like the noise to fuel their EAS paranoia!:D
