Well, after 12 years have sold my loved and hated (but mostly loved) P38A. Now bought a Disco 3. I've left the Rangey forum and joined you lot in Disco. Hello!
So, anybody any fitting instructions or advice on fitting 13 pin electrics to my shiny disco 3. Can't seem to find anything under search. Thanks Rob

In the case of the 13 way trailer socket, I would be tempted to obtain the correct item from the main dealer or an authorised supplier rather than try to build and install your own version.

Unlike the old 7 pin trailer sockets, I believe that the 13 pin socket is an MoT testable item.

Sorry for delay replying. Car is an Auto. Have had one or two people say that the 13 pin is more complex than the old 7 pin or twin sockets. I have used a converter from 13 pin on caravan to the double sockets on the back of my old RR. I could do the same with the Disco if that was best. Any more info/advice would be helpful
Thanks. Rob

If auto then once electrics are fitted for towing the transmission ecu needs telling it has a tow bar fitted as it monitors gearbox temp and will put the car into safe mode as temperatures get higher than it would normally expect

7 pin electrics is an easy and cheap plug in operation. The BCU, TR, EAS and TCM ECUs all need to be told that a trailer is fitted.
