Disco 3.5 v8i (92)

Hi people really need help i have a Disco 1 V8i 3.5 (92) will not start iv put new starter motor new ht leads n dizzy arm n cap new battery new coil new fuel pump it now turns but will not fire up got it jump started other day drove it for a few hour was fine next morning wouldnt start was told it was the coil so i put a new one on still nothing need help please.

Iv got sparks n got fuel going in even cams seen ok really no idea what it could be

Have you checked all your fuses and what's the fuel filter like?

When you got it started before did it drive really shuddering as if it was stalling?

If you'e getting fuel into the engine you'll need to check the electrical spark is getting to your spark plug.

How long are you cranking on it? If you have fueling, but weak spark and you try to turn them over for awhile, these motors flood rather easily.

Spark should be bright white, not yellowish or orange.

If the plugs are wet, pull them and dry them.

Check you have 12 volts reaching the coil. Mine only had about 7 due to a dry joint somewhere in the immobiliser, so I ran a wire from the ignition switch directly to the coil.

Only cranking for 30 secs max dont wont to mess the starter motor up

Have you tried advancing the ignition timing while the engine is cranked over? If you have flooded the engine it will be a pig to start - you can remove and dry all the plugs, turn the engine over with all plugs removed and ECU coil pickup disconnected. You could try cranking it over with the throttle wide open but that doesn't always work.

Do a search in the V8 section for starting problems!

Does it have the little amplifier unit on the side of the dizzy? Could be this. I've got a brand new spare you can have if you like.

Spark looked weak, I did tell him when I was there it should be blue ish not yellow

Gave him a new red performance rotor arm too


You could remove the condenser unit and try it without one to see if the spark improves as well as checking the gap


Did you look at the valve movement yet ?

Valve was fine was ignition amp but now having props with clutch transfer n gear box duno whats wrong yet tho
