I hope someone can help me with is please.
I have a disco 200tdi gearbox and want to fit it into my series 2a. Could I remove the bell housing and main shaft and replace them with the 2a ones. I know the crossmember will have to be altered. I have just got a rolling disco chassis engine and gearbox so I have all the bits I should need. I cannot find anywhere if the main shaft from the 2a will fit.
Looking forward to any help.
Thanks
Kevin

youd really want defender lt77 with short bellhousing which you can get modified lt76 transfer box fitted or if you fit lt230 you need to mod center diff or remove drive through front axle somehow, you cant mate series and lt77 gearboxes , series box if in good condition will handle tdi and will bolt straight up (not all bellhousing bolts will line up but more than is needed will)

My gearbox is knackered. Do you think the main shaft from a lt77 will go in the disco box?

no chance at all ,though you can use later clutch plate if fitting defender lt77 , disco can be fitted but its too long to be useable, best bet is getting a series 3 box rebuilt ,unless to want a much bigger project and costs
