Disco 2 v8 fan

Hi all, have had my new (to me) disco 2 v8 for a few days now and love it!!! But can't help but notice that the electric fan cuts in all the time, have searched through old posts and it has become apparent that the electric fan is pro dominantly for the air con, but one my air con doesn't work and two I have had the heater on tonight on my way home so no call for cool air at all and guess what....it was running again, engine temp is spot on if gauge is to be believed, and fan turns off immediately with ignition.

Hi Geoff thanks for the welcome, I'm guessing you are a v8 man who hopefully could shed some light on my probs, which incidentally I think I posted in the wrong place!!!! I prefer oil and mud to technology....we get on better!!!

A duff engine temperature sensor for the ECU is a possibility, the aircon fans can come on with an engine overheat on some vehicles.

Hoping it's the sensor, think it must be as viscous and temp guage both not pointing to an overheating engine
