Disco 2 Gearbox Drain Plug

Changed all oils and filters recently whilst servicing the disco. But didn't get around to doing main gearbox.

Tried to do it last night, used penetrating spray to try loosen it, but it's stuck tight. Had both feet on cross member to get some leaverage but it wouldn't come loose/undo.

Any ideas before I take it to the garage?

Breaker bar and a scaff pole? Or try gentle heat with a blow torch to the bolt only for a minute. Don't want to damage the casing if it's ally

for the price of 4 pints of beer you can have this LOCTITE FREEZE RELEASE PENETRATING OIL SEIZED BOLT | eBay , works brilliant, i have one, will help you for many bolts worth every penny of it as if you work with heat you might have to put a new bolt then

I had to get the hammer and big chisel out on mine.

Butchery, but it was the only thing that would work.

i should have said ale(some good one) ...when i've been in UK last time i paid 3.5 quid for one(i can't remember what kind but it was good)

I used a large 32mm ring spanner and managed to get my trolley jack on the end of it and used the force of that to crack the bolt.

Great idea! I'm still sure there's no need for it to be that tight though? Who does them that tight?

its usually a sign it hasnt be undone for a good while
