Been looking on Paddocks and the Like for front brake pads for Disco 1 There seems to be different ones for different years. Anyone know the correct part number for 1987 R Reg 300 Tdi ?
Thanks

Thanks, But might not ned them now. The reason I asked was that the drivers front makes a Rattley scraping noise so automatically thought it needed new pads, but had a quick look tonight and they seem to have plenty of meat on them yet, But the top pin and both split pins were missing so put another on, but no spring. There is another bit of metal sticking out of the side that seems to not be fitted right so I think I need a new Fitting Kit. I have solid discs but there is a few different kits for solid and vented but they al look the same so not sure again which one to get.

SWMBO's '97 D1 3dr "LA" chassis has br*tprat SFP500160G pads on the front:-

https://www.paddockspares.com/brake-pad-set-front.html

12 months and 8K miles later = no discernable wear.

My 97 5dr "LA" chassis has Mintex :-

Probably been on about 18 months - maybe 25% worn.....

Fitting kit springs ( which yours is in rather urgent need of) are:-

BUT - Both the above sets of pads came with new pins and springs :)

Thanks Again Mate, will try my local Landy place tomorrow, if I can get a set of Pads with the springs and pins included cheap enough , will change whole lot.

The springs are called anti- rattle, therefore there must be a perceived possibility of the pins or pads rattling.
Don’t forget the shims, if the new pads don’t have attach material on the back as genuine parts pads do, maybe u can reuse the ones that are already fitted.

Plus clean the calipers

So why didn’t u wait and ask ask your “local Landy place” for the correct pads? it’s now obvious that the LR part number is not going to be any use to you, therefore I for one could have got on with other things instead of replying to your post.

I am Very Grateful for the Help and Advice I get from here Mate, I am a complete Novice when it comes to mechanics but I am half way through a 110 rebuild with Loads of help from people that really don't mind giving it on here. Like neily says you were not forced to answer my posts, If you have other things to get on with then please get on with them instead of answering my posts.

HTH - highly recommend the Br*tP@rt ones I linked to - think we paid £18 plus the Vodka & Tonic ;) bedded in quickly and at least as good as the Mintex in our onion (opinion :D).

Also Discool is right about one thing - clean your calipers :D:D - preferably with some sand/grit/abrasive travelling quite quickly ;) - but push your pistons all the way in first ;);)

Here's what SWMBO's look like after a bit of a clean:-

Thanks Mate. The PO had done some serious off roading so will give them a good clean while I'm on.
Could not link to your pic

I now once a year take the wheels off to touch up the stone chips on my discos callipers, I should have used stronger paint than Hammerite.

I use Tractol Post Office Red - it's pretty darn tough IME - available on the bay of fleas :)
