Dirty Grey Plastic

Hi guys, anyone any suggestions for cleaning/restoring the grey plastic bumpers and wheel arch trim. I have spayed them with trim shine products but aftera few days it wears off. Somebody at work says he has seen (but can't remeber where) a bumper polish that is grey in colour. Any ideas.

Yes, take a look how things look after being treated with linseed oil. After it's been evenly wiped on polish it with a dry cloth. The car is of jan. 9th 2001.

This stuff actually dyes the plastic black again, it's awesome, makes the bumpers look new again, dead easy to use, i redo it every 12m.
I got my first lot from the states but then found them at motorgeek in the UK, worth every penny, and some.
Other bumpercare products just make em shine for a fortnight but don't sort the faded plastic pigment issue.

Cheers Mikey, unfortunately the trim on my car is grey, unless they do it in grey, however I wouldn't be bothered about doing them black. U think it would cover the grey?
 
Mines a 1997 and the plastic is more dark grey than Black, L.R. did them Black from 2001 onwards and they don't seem to fade.
I tried the Forever Black first on the back door above the number plate light just as a tester but it really was a no brainer, the shade change to darker is just enough and i did the whole car, that was 2 years ago and i havn't looked back.
For the first year I left a lower front section of the front bumper untouched, just so i could remember how bad it used to look!
The areas you dye don't seem to fade again but as the bottle gives you enough to cover a B2 bomber, I like to redo it every year.
Just use the pre cleaner sparingly so it doesn't run out before the Black
stuff does.
I have never tried to overcoat it with any shiners, thats personal choice, i prefer it as it is.

I have used this stuff and noramaly put it on in the spring and autumn

Ideal for removing polish smudges from bumpers and trim. 325ml.

does a good enough job, when it has run out I might try linseed oil
 
Must agree with the above. I use the Autoglym as well, very impressed with the results and lasts for around 2/3 months a time.:)
The one problem I found out here is, it is very dusty and very hot and I find it seems to melt the stuff (can't think of another way to describe it)
so if you brush past it, it leaves a nasty black patch on your clothing from the dust it has attracted while hot.:(
But I would imagine the same would happen if I used linceed oil as well, but hey, we have learned not to lean on the plastic bits.:D :D :D

HI THERE I USE COOKING OIL.AFTER I HAVE WASHED AND DRIED IT I GET A SOFT CLOTH AND RUB OIL IN IN YOULL SEE HOW IT WORKS.LASTS 4 TO 6 WEEKS.THANKS

Tried the linseed oil trick today- works like a dream!! Thanks for whoever first suggested it! One question though- can i also use it on the hard back of my 3 door? It's all faded and sad looking....

Thanks to the lads who recommended the linseed oil. Best £1.80 I have spent, did it yesterday brings the plastic up lovely. I used Raw Linseed Oil not the boiled. Cheers for the tip!

cheers.[/quotTry a part on topof the roof let's say which is less visible. In my opinion it would work as well. I do the whipers, outside mirrors, plastic cover of the sparewheel, plastic parts either side of the reardoorwindow, the rear bumper even the roolfrails and it's all nice and looking all new.
