Hi all,

Engaged my diff lock the other day and when i finished playing around i thought i took it back out again. The light on the dash is now staying on but i think the selector is in the correct position (its very stiff). I have jacked up one wheel with main box in neutral and handbrake off and the wheel only moved a little. i would expect this to be freely moving if diff lock was off right?

if your gear box was in neutral , try turning the nut on t/box front housing anti clockwise

When I first tried mine out the light stayed on along with the diff lock, until I reversed back a few yards and it went off! Have you tried that?

Yep i have tried that and no joy, also i the selector very stiff on other peoples transfer boxes? i would expect it to be relatively easy to move but mine is really hard to select?? i almost have to use all my strength and weight to change it!!

It will need a good strip down and clean, mine used to stick in lock and also out of lock, pulled the linkage apart, cleaned and greased it all up. Now works like landrover intended it to work.

you need to remove the gear levers (screw off) remove the center console drill out the pop rivets , remove rubber cover ,then you will see the long bar/laver that operates the diff lock ,drivers side of box , wd40 it all to try get it moving , then clean it best you can , now grease all the moving parts ,and pivot points . same for the lever it self clean and grease and all should then be happy ,probably all dried up and ugly
