Hi,

Just a quick one. With the weather the other week I had to use my Difflock a couple times when pulling people out. I noticed after going back into normal high range not in diff lock the light stays on sometimes for just a min or so and sometimes for quite a while.

Is this likely to be just a dodgy switch or should I be worried?

Thanks

Could also possibly be slackness or stiffness in the difflock operating linkages not allowing the difflock to fully clear.
I had the same as you and found the top bolted joint in the links had worked loose.

as diff lock is spring operated to allow engagement while moving ,when you dis engage it wont until it can, ie take load off transmission /clutching or deaccelerating

The diff-lock light will extinuish when the diff-lock is disengaged but there may be a delay, thats mentioned in the owners handbook.
Should the transmission be 'wound up' then reverse a few metres and the light will extinuish, thats also mentioned in the owners handbook.

the swich is activated directly by the diflok mecanisim
but the arm that engages the mecanism is spring loaded so wen you disengage diflok the arm moves but the diflok wont let go until the tenshon is releesed
its normal m8

the difflock light is operated by the diff lock selector which is operated by a spring which is operated by selector shaft which is directly operated by linkage i must have built hundreds of them ,so light will stay on until diff is out of lock ,switches can also play up but if you replace it you must only wind it in far enough to work then lock using nut 17mm spanner size switch 5/8 or 16mm as winding switch right down will jam selctor (which is surprisingly common even with garages also similar fault with lt77 gear box reverse switch which is the same switch on most )

Thanks to the guys who post on this forum, freed my diff lock off today-did the 13mm spanner thing underneath, and all was good, but top end bound up good and proper-took console out etc-took diff lock of top of box,and operated on it in the garage-freed it off well and reassembled.I can now select diff lock easily, but I get no light on dash-is the switch exactly the same as the reversing switch, for ordering purposes-cheers
