I'm a bit peed off, recently had a new cylinder head fitted, along with gaskets, o rings in fuel pressure reg etc, all is well apart from when I park the disco in a position where the engine is higher than than tank , on a hill with the engine pointing uphill etc, the diesel seems to be running back to the tank, it goes to run, then chucks it, it's a pure git to get started after this happens, if parked the other way round ie, rear higher than the front it starts first flick of the key ! I've had the engine cover of today to check the connections to the fuel reg and cooler and they seem ok, any ideas what could be the problem ?

that was a ''tranzition'' year so it might have the non return valve fitted or not, check at the filter housing and if it has the non return valve(VUB503950) replace it with a new one, it certainly has the air bleed valve(WJN500110) so replace that too... if no joy after that we'll speak then but these must be ruled out

Many thanks I will change these & let you know

Just changed the air bleed today, mine didn't have the 1 way no return valve fitted, but I bought 1 just incase, it's getting worse now, when it's got a full tank of fuel it starts straight up, if it's down to about half tank then it won't start unless I give it a bit easy start !

check your fuel cap is venting. after you've been on a drive open the tank, if you hear air suck in then its not venting properly. this would cause a vacuum in the tank as you use diesel, then when you stop the engine the tank trys to expand and sucks the diesel out of the pipes.

Well after fitting the air bleed and 1 way valve, also opening the fuel cap after a journey, the td5 is still the same, problem not solved
