At an old work mates range turns over but won't start, warning " Engine disabled" isn't showing on the pod . Fuel is up to the injection pump. Can't find any fault codes regarding non-starting. Fuses appear ok.

Anyone have any ideas????

PS. Vehicle is a dec 1997 November build

I've tried a security relearn doesn't seem to have worked,
Wet carpets, fuse box burnt, ignition relay, stop solenoid wire, CPS are other possibilities, Re-learn on a diesel is different to a V8, from memory you have to read.the EDC and enter into the BECM. Wammers knows for sure.

Been a while since i had this issue, but is it not correct for the cel/engine/injector light to light briefly and go off during bulb check, when you turn ignition on??
I remember on mine ,when it did not come on at all,it would not start.Mine was an earth issue.

Are you getting a live at the fuel stop solenoid on the pump, and if so is the solenoid actually operating?
As Keith suggested,possibly solenoid?

Basic re-cap:

Engine turns over but will not fire up>read all fault codes>cleared all codes>security re-learn enabled>engine still turns over but not firing up>re-checked fault codes below are 2 codes that have re-appeared (attachment).

Question would these codes be a normal part of the starting process and are the readings for the water temp just an electronic reference number or a temperature degree number being seen by the EDC/BECM.

The fault codes points to an "Engine Immobiliser Fault" but having cleared all the fault codes and then enabling a re-sync (security re-learn), I'm now confused as to the exact procedure...

When I had to re-sync "Stevetheplants" a few weeks ago that seemed to be a bit "hit n miss" and took a few go's to re-sync as well.

Is there a written down step by step set of instructions to resync P38's diesel and petrol's???

I've try searching BBS site with no luck...

I wonder....

If the ECU thinks the Engine Temp is that high, it may be using the wrong fuelling map which may cause the engine to fail to start...

The Immobiliser issue may just be a hiccup and there is nothing wrong with it, just the ECU thinks the engine is hotter than it actually is and is not fueling correctly for the start!

Check the ignition relay. Yes I know it's a diesel. I've never had to resync but I believe you read the code from the EDC and write it to the BECM as 2 steps rather than a re-learn.

Water temperature 198 or plus does not look normal to me.

I have a feeling that the "Water Temp" is just a reference number as opposed to an actual temp reading, but what I find odd is "Water Temp" number is different in both fault codes, I would expect them to be the same as the engine is cold??

Theres no fuel getting to the injectors at all...

I'm at home now, so I will wait for Wammers input/confirmation as to the next step.

When I re-sync-ed "Stevetheplants" diesel a while go it seemed a "bit n miss" process, I used the security re-learn function but seemed to take a few go's or was it more luck than by judgement.....

Is there any step by step instructions to re-sync-ing?

You are right, the water temperature is a number not a temperature and I dimly remember it working in the oposite sense to temperature rise, I just don't remember seeing a big number like that.
Ignition relay and fuse box have been gulty of causing this problem in the past.
I did read up on re-sync of the diesel but it was a long time ago, I think it was in the Faultmate help guides but not sure.
