I have an old diesel manual g/box disco circa 1996. Occassionally it wont start when hot. It now has a new battery and starter motor fitted.
When I try and start the ignition and alternator lights come on OK. When I try and turn the engine over these lights stay bright but the engine doesn't turn over.
So its looks like the starter motor is being prevented from being energised and is drawing no current from the battery.
Say 20 minutes later when the engine has cooled down it starts fine.
Any offers?
