Could anybody give me a pointer on which remap chip to look at for my 02 td6 vogue with 12000 miles,
I have seen plug in units for £70-£100 which I was advised would be a better option than a full remap of the cars own ecu which could be wiped if a software update was installed,
I am finding that the car has a reasonable amount of go and getting an average of 22 mpg which is mostly on twisty country lanes and roads which I think is not to bad but a little extra for when you need to pass would be an advantage.

Ok, do they make that much of an difference that the box goes wrong,
My gearbox had a full rebuild by land rover just short of 20000 miles ago so it shod be good for another while yet I hope lol

My 2002 also runs with a plug in £90 jobby

Goes along very well now :)

Gearbox has fewer gear changes so in my opinion less wear on the gearbox as long as you don't frash it everywhere !

Thought it was just the p38 that had rubber bands and paperclips for a gearbox?
Always thought the l322 was much stronger

The 4.6 petrol P38 was the last Range Rover fitted with a Transmission up to the job asked of it. Obviously discounting the L405 which is as-yet unbattle-proven, we'll see.

Less wear? It's torque not horsepower which destroys transmissions, if using the mid-range grunt from a chip-up is generating more torque than the box was designed to handle then it's living on borrowed time. As for not thrashing it, once you're past peak torque in the rev band keeping your foot flat using the extra top-end horsepower from a chip-up is putting less stress on the box than accelerating and short-shifting on the wave of mid-range wallop.

Nope, not interchangeable
If only they were !

No point fussing when / if the gearbox is going to fail. Might as well enjoy it

They put up with the extra torque given from the m57n engine fitted to the X5
Obviously the L322 has the extra weight of the car that won't help !

+1:)
