Diesel additive, 2-stroke oil?

hi charlesy, david (newbie) here, regarding mixing kerosene (paraffin) to used filtered engine oil, what ratio litre to litre would you suggest for example:- 5 litres of used engine oil, how much paraffin would you add to 5 litres of old engine oil?...regards david

Mix your old oil with diesel 50/50 before filtering through a 5 micron fiter. Then one rainy night when you are low on fuel and you tip in some fuel from a container to get you to the garage but accidentally mix up the containers in the dark, you will find that it runs ok !
Make sure that you are aware of the consequencies of your mistake if you happen to get dipped !!!

Does anyone know if the new defender post 2007 can take used engine oil etc?

It'd be tempted to think it can process it without the sensitive engine throwing a wobbly :D

Can the custom blokes detect kero in your fuel tank? don't know if it is true but they say that if you have ever used red diesel in your tank they can still find traces 10 years later.Hence the question about kero. Here in holland the bastards are allways doing checks to see if yer been useing red diesel, and if you have there is a fined of around 2000 euro's.
Like you say Shifty these are evel bastards, and are best avoided.

My old man was a revenue officer so I know what I'm talking about.
Once you come to their attention you're there for life.
Their powers come from historical times when kings had to raise money via taxes to go to war (nothing new there then) and they accepted no excuse for non payment.

If it has an optical fuel contamination sensor then it wont work unless you can bypass the sensor. Black oil does not pass the same amount of light as clean diesel so it will cause the ECU to shut the engine down thinking the fuel is contaminated.

Just run a tank full of diesel with 250ml of 2 stroke added.

WHAT A DIFFERENCE.

The torque and almost silent running of the engine are fantastic.

It will go round bends and not need a change down now and pulls in 4th up a slope that it always needed 3rd to go up.

BLOODY AMAZING.

Thanks fellas:)

This may be a bit of a daft question but do you add it to the tank empty and then fill up or add it at the end or half way through or does it not matter

I put it in first so whatever follows it mixes it up......or after if I forget.

But then mines a series which would bounce around all over the place on a bowling green

Comma 2-stroke mineral oil, green colour so no worries about a red tinge if dipped. Available on Amazon at £23.89/5 litres. Absolutely swear by it, there's no need for alternatives or questions - and you can use it in your lawnmower or scooter:amen:

Been using about 300ml of 2-stroke to a tank the last couple of fill and it does seem to be a little bit quiter and smoother.

Tricky bit over here though is our Agri-diesel is green rather than red and the. Obviously paraffin is red too so could be in trouble if it was red or green 2-stroke I use

Auxiliary tank for diesel and second fuel filler on tank for engine and hydrualic oil I reckon :D

Just checked the mpg after 2 used tanks of 2 stroke added and with 18 year old son driving in the hilly Pennines its now returning figures of 28.5mpg

Pleased with that for a 23 yr old TD.

No need to worry what colour your diesel is because the revenue dont actually rely on the colour of the fuel. There are various chemical markers added to red diesel and heating oil etc that, if present, are what they use to prosecute you. The colour is just to give them an easy way to tell if proper (expensive) analysing is needed. If in doubt put a teaspoon of photo copier toner in with your fuel and it will be jet black.
