Trying to decide in my search for a sh LR between the two.

Had a disco 3 cpl years ago loved it to bits but at the time couldn't afford running & maintenance costs. Still far from well off but decided I could run one till I retire in 5-6 years.

The more a look the more I get confused. I don't do off road but want the disco for the sheer joy it was to drive (and I like gadgets :pound::pound:).

Moving to a new house and on road parking i tight as it is at work. People talk about the freelander being more maneuverable, is it such a difference? Are maintenance costs a lot cheaper

SO with my budget 15-20k i could get an older disco gs/hse or newer freelander.

Someone help me out here, don't even think I'm even asking myself the right questions!

You need to get out and test drive these mate, we all have our preferences for various reasons.

Take them out and see what they are like for parking on roads/ supermarkets/ country roads etc. The FL2 is getting close in size to the Disco's now so its a personal choice

i think the discovery3 will have more gadgets etc,but it will have more problems due to it's complexity.whereas the freelander2 is a more basic vehicle but is just as comfy and would be more suited to what you need it for.try them both, research them both then buy the freelander.;):D

Try and blag a full 2 hour test drive. I went out to buy a Freelander 2 and came back with a RAV 4 chosen by the Missus who now wont drive the bloody thing. Going to trade it soon for a Defender and then sell my series 3. Will get her a little horror of a C1 Citroen or something.

Don't try and put a dog cage in the back of a Freelander, it wont fit. A mate bought a new one, took it home and tried to get the dog cage in the back and it wouldn't fit . Took the Freelander back to the garage and bought a new Range Rover (after trying the dog cage), did I laugh?

...........of course I did

Friend who came to Morocco had a dog guard fitted in the back of his F2. Must have been the installer at fault.
