Hi all,
I'm sure this has been discussed before but I can't really find the definitive answer.
Coming from a P38 with a nanocom, I'm now looking at buying an L322 4.4 circa 2004 and I'm wondering what is the closest diag kit to nanocom.
I would prefer a standalone kit rather than one that needs a laptop but if it needs to be a laptop job so be it.
I'm just trying to work out what I need to budget on top of the purchase price for diag.
I know @Saint.V8 likes the allcoms for the price but it seems it is mainly a fault code reader so probably not on a par with nanocom. (wishes bbs would do an early l322 module!)

I feel your pain.

With a faultmate msv2 extreme for the P38 I've been looking. my L322 is a 2006 so nanocom and RSW is off the cards. BBS want £675 to add the L322 licence to my MSV2 Extreme. f*** that !

GAP IID tool is looking like the contender at £420 -ish for the Bluetooth version. one sold on the bay last week for 320 used which will require a £25 owner change fee.. at that price I'd prefer to go new

All Comms for its price can do basic BCU settings, recalibrate the EAS, re-program the Steering Angle Sensor calibration, set up the LCM lighting and also read and clear faults.

The iCarsoft is just a fault coder reader and live data device....

The IIDTool by GapDiagnostics is very good, but needs a working message display in the instrument cluster....

The muts danglies is the Faultmate Extreme but is costly.

Bearmach Hawkeye is limited and can't do recalibration of the EAS

Lynx is reportedly 'OK' but I have no real experience of it.

So to summerise:

All Comms for a budget piece of kit - needs laptop
iCarsoft is very good - standalone but doesn't do any setting changes
IIDTool - is the best all rounder (price and functions)
Faultmate Extreme - for the hardcore stuff

Why does the iid tool need a working display?
Sorry Saint it was the icarsoft I was thinking of, not allcoms.
I'll have a look at the allcoms one and see how it compares to iid tool.
Haven't bought an L322 yet so not ready to buy just yet.

IIDTool uses the Message display to display all the information....or atleast the original one did!

Our IID Gap is Bluetooth on the 2011 so get it on the pad/phone.

Not sure about earlier models.

they only sell the BT (Bluetooth) one now. you can turn in your cable one and pay a reduced price for a swap to BT which displays on your phone or laptop

I like using these, nice and cheap ;)

I have Allcomms and faultmate and i still find the Allcomms better for some things.
On occasion the faultmate won’t connect to certain ECUs but the Allcomms will and the Allcomms is simple but does need a laptop as you know.
When my immobiliser throws its tits out the bed thankfully the faultmate saves the day by reprogramming the link.
