Detroit Locker

I have one in the back of my 90 (well it will be back in again soon) All I can say is great Except drive a motor before hand some people don;t get on with the detroit locker in the rear as you do tend to have to drive differently to go around corners on the road

Nope not quite,

One wheel the inside rear will get 100% of drive to the largest wheel when driving the other wheel will be allowed to overrun. normally the outside wheel will get for instance 110% drive and inside 90%. The effect when accelerating gently around corners is the inside wheel will be be getting 100% on the inside and shortest distance travelled this will cause you to almost under steer (well it does on my 90) if you come off the throttle mid way around the corner you can feel it tighten up its weird and some people do not notice it but I certainly do but having the locker far outweighs the downsides.

You need to understand how the locker works and how a diff work. The locker will always drive both wheels @ 100% however it will allow either wheel to overrun only ever one at a time (say for instannce its on the outside of a corner) and then re engage when they are at equal speeds. Also note you will do rear trailing arm bushes but again the down sides far outweigh the bad bits.

As far as I know, you just gotta cut the diff pan off and weld on a flange so that you can then bolt the kam pan to it. Really prefer the idea of electrics to air lines. Less likely to go wrong tbh. Would love one for mine, would go with Kam if I could.

I like the idea with the KAMs however forget the shafts they have a built in weak point far better to get ashcroft shafts that have stress risers ext lots more tech in the way the shafts are made and far superior IMO. I run a salisbury Rear axle and not a rover item on my 90 not that its any difference stronger if anything. Give ashcroft a ring before hitting the buy button they stopped selling detroits for rover axles. I believe this was because of a batch problem with them breaking but don't quote me on that just ring ashcroft and ask why they stopped selling Rover detroits.
