Defender Wheel arches

I'm looking to replace the wheel arches on my ex military 110, they've been painted green and I want a change to black, does anyone know who makes a decent set of standard width arches? I've had one set from my local specialist but they fitted really badly and we're made from a much harder plastic than the flexible originals. Anyone?

Have you considered removing the paint on the ones you've got?
If you google nitromors, you will see that everybody says it's rubbish nowadays. You will then see the reason is because it's missing a key ingredient, that you can buy on eBay. This chemical attacks paint very well but I found is safe on plastic.

Try a wanted on here, should be loads of them lying about.

What's the key ingredient.?

Can't remember without going out into the garage and having a look.

It's this stuff. I bought a cheap paint stripper from screwfix and put this in it, about 3:1

Thanks for reply, pretty sure paint stripper will soften the plastic though.

The early arches were of a rubbery compound.

Once you get the paint off, scrubbing with peanut butter will bring the early rubber eyebrows back to health, seriously.

I believe you, it’s slightly gritty, even the smooth stuff so I guess it acts like a ‘thick’ rubbing compound. The oils probably nourish the plastic aswell.

Thanks, I've heard that before about the peanut butter, will give it a try.
