Defender TD5 EGR Removal

Just recently removed my EGR valve using this kit Land Rover Discovery 2 TD5 EGR Removal Complete Kit | eBay UK , when I look at other kits available theres slight differences, ie some remove the cooler/exchanger and blank it off others replace a servo pipe..

This kit removes the egr valve and also blanks off one side of the exchanger on the outlet only, it also has two rubber bungs for the solenoids..

Is this kit ok, or should I remove the exchanger and blank fully off?

The kit I used didn't have the rubber bungs. I sprayed plenty of WD40 on the exhaust manifold allen screws and waited a few days. Then I removed the pipe from the manifold to the EGR valve and fitted the blanking plate to the exhaust manifold. Then I removed the EGR valve form the inlet manifold and put the tube bit in it's place. I didn't know what to do about the wee pipe from the EGR to solenoid, so I jammed the rubber bit on the end onto on of the solenoids mounting screws and left everything else the way it was.

Everything works ok for me so far.

I would say the kit is fine as is, especially as it saves having to mess around with the coolant pipes etc.
But if you cab get std replacement non egr coolant pipes i would be inclined to replace the whole kit and binning the egr.

Your engine being pre 2002 doesnt have the heat exchanger.

lol, as I was reading your reply above I was thinking what the **** is he on about, then I remembered when I read your reply to me, yep I have the older one.
