I have a 2005 Defender with cdplayer and was wondering if there is any way of putting an auxiliary input into it from a mp3 player(3.5mm Jack) i have done a search but cant find anything???

Thanks in Advance

James

I suppose you could always pop the unit out, drill a hole through the facia and then wire up an input to the circuit board inside somehow (ie. through CD drive signal terminals). Another option is one of those dirt cheap wireless transmitters that you can pick up from some petrol stations for only £8 (got mine from Shell). Of course, for £40 you can buy yourself a whole new headset and then fit that, flogging your old one for 10-20 quid if you feel like it!

Probably best to bin the cd player an buy a head unit that has aux input on it already

I haven't looked, but I've heard that the terminals/plug and socket on the back of the head unit are not standard iso/din and that you nead an adaptor (something about standard BMW plug)! - not sure if it's correct, but worth checking - you can pick them up cheap on FleaBay

I also have TD5 2005 with Visteon 6500 head unit (CD useless with Defender suspension).

Mine has a Dension FM link which feeds the iPod in via the aerial input. There is a Brodit brakcet available for the Defender.

Also fitted is a Parrot CK3100 which fitted directly into the OEM connectors (which on this model of Visteon are ISO so no adapter needed). I didn't need to connect a mute feed as it seems to mute automatically.

If you pull the head unit and it says 6500 on the back and has one orange and one grey connector it should be ISO.

If you have the XS type dash centre you can just about squeeze the control units for these bits of kit under the head unit (tight though).

Give me a shout if you want pictures.
