hi there,
im having a spot of bother with a twin choke weber carb from a 1985 90 defender (2.5 petrol version) basically the engine runs fine on tickover and on full revs but in midrange just cuts out and dies (sounds like its being starved of something) I called the AA man and he reckons that i have a carb diaphragm that needs replacing, and so i took off the car, cleaned it all out and had a look at the diaphragm and would certainly agree that it looks like it needs replacing! I then put the carb back on and fired the old beast up and she ran fine (although still cuts out in the midrange) i also tried running the engine with the choke on and it worked, i.e it reved all through the rev range no problems at all (although on tickover the engines obviously running really fast!!!) so what im asking is:
A. Would a new diaphragm solve my problem
B. Where do i get one as i cant source one anywhere
C. Is it actually a choke problem
Hope ive been clear, and any help would be appreciated!
