Series 2 Which Carb to choose

My series 3 was running badly so I replaced the Zenith Chinese copy with a new Weber kit. What I now believe is the rusty fuel kept blocking up the carb jets. I would advise anyone recommissioning a series to save themselves the frustration to drain and check the fuel tank. The fuel tanks are moisture traps and the gauze filter on the pick up pipe is often missing.

In addition to warped Zeniths, I've also seen the spindles wear, allowing air in when the butterfly is closed.

Please keep us updated with your progress.
Thank you for adding to the conversation, it's great to know I'm not alone. One of the first things we did before trying to start it when we rolled it out of storage was to drain the fuel tank and refill with fresh fuel.

In addition, "Uncle Stan" (an engineer by trade) fabricated a new stainless steel petrol tank for it in 2020, so, hopefully, it should be clear of rust :D (Is this the only series 2a with a stainless steel tank?)

I was also concerned by spindle wear and general age of the original Zenith, so I'm glad to have the "replace with a new one" confirmed.

I'm hoping to go and pick up a new Webber Carb (amongst an ever growing shopping list) later today. I'll definitely post pics of before and after.

Stay well,
