Any advice would be good, my defender 90 judders when setting off, fine when driving through the gears, just setting off. It has had a new clutch recently, less than 10,000 miles ago.
Thanks.

If it started when you had a new clutch or shortly after, I would say that's your problem.[what make was replacement clutch?]
Had this problem on a series years ago after a clutch change but only in reverse! Bit of a pain at times but I lived with it until another change was needed and then the judder went away.

Mine judders on the odd occasion too, gets worse when it's damp/humid. Did a few searches a while back and there were mentions of a slightly warped flywheel, or contaminated surfaces possibly being the cause. Also a few mentions of HD clutches being a bit grabby.

Mine only judders if you try to pull away with minimal use of the throttle. If I raise the revs a bit more the clutch engages drive smoothly.

I'm driving around it until it needs changing or it's convenient to change it. Then I'll be getting a quality standard duty clutch kit installed, with HD fork of course.

Maybe just a duff clutch was installed? PITA as it's not exactly a small job.

It could easily be the handbrake, or clutch, or prop shafts or anything else involved in the drivetrain.

Why ask a question, get the most plausible answer based on your information, then ask another question? Presumably you have further information that might lead to the diagnosis you want ...

If your handbrake is hot after a drive you may be right, although judder in this case tends to be continuous or repeating now and then as you drive.

Mine judders pulling away and when shunting and its the clutch, annoying not very old but I cant remember if it was a good or cheap one!
Mines also got new gearbox and engine mounts and an X brake handbrake so eliminating all the usual suspects.

Begining to think the same, very annoying if it is.

Its been on my to do list for a couple of years now, but last year it only did 200 between mots and the year before 21 miles so its not really high priority!
I keep toying with selling it but then I would have top do the clutch:rolleyes:
