I've been haveing a look around here for a couple of weeks and have not found all my answers...

I have ordered a Defender 130 TD5, which should arrive here in the south western tip of Africa some time in May/June. To suite my initial needs it will be fitted with:

Rubberised load box
Canvas cover and raillings
110W spot lights
Front Runner Bullbar
Towbar
Front Runner snorkel
Rear eyebrows
60 l diesel tank
40 l water tank
BFGoodrich AT's (245/75/16) including 2 spares

Now, since this will be my first LR and not knowing a lot about LR's what is there that I should know about my future 130? How long should it last? How reliable are the new LR's? All Defenders to southern Africa and British imports and not manufactured here anymore.

:) It will last as long as you want it to - broken bits just get replaced.:D

Stuff I'd carry around if I was in a less populated part of the world - :D political correctness filter on max:D But ignore if you're using as a suburb cruiser like us in the northern hemisphere.

Workshop manual & decent set of tools.
automotive multimeter
Fluids.
Spare ECU - [get one off Ebay - make sure its post '99]
front & rear Spare brake hose.
Wheel bearing
Clutch kit.

:p Bible, talmut, koran and several lucky charms:p

Guessing other stuff to put on the list -
Underbody protection
winch
sandladders

That sounds as if you do not have a lot of faith in the vehicle???
Loads of faith - but you can't be too careful.

Always a good plan to stick to rigorous servicing, mechanical sypathy and loads of luck:D
