My entire dashboard died (instruments, all lights except SRS) whilst driving down the motorway. The handbrake light came on, I toggled the lever to check it was released, and the entire panel flickered off then on again. Then 10 mins later went out completely.

No speedo, no indicators, though hazards work. Door open warning lights work too.

Any suggestions ? Thanks

What year?
Does everything else work that is ignition controlled?
It sounds like the Ipack has lost power, which is why only the remote powered lights are working.

These tests would be helpful.

Do the hazard telltale lights (green) on the dash flash in time with the indicators?

Does the lights on light work?

Does the main beam warning light work?

Do the electric windows work?

@Nodge68 It's a 2001 TD4.

No the hazard telltale lights don't flash with the indicators.
No the lights on light doesn't work. (Though the dash panel illumination comes on)
I will check the main beam warning...
I will check electric windows too...

Sorry for ignorance but what is the Ipack? Is there a fuse? Or can I check voltage supply to it?

Thanks for help!

I have an intermittant dash failure, all dash lights come on, needles go to zero, apart from the fuel guage I think.
Sometimes when it happens there feels like a momentary loss of power.
Couple of moments later all works again apart from two amigo.
A sharp tap to the right hand side of the dash also cures the snag....
Ive learnt to live with it - so far!

Chris

The dash is really easy to remove if you want to check the connections and reseat them. A Phillip's screwdriver and 10 minutes is all you need.
