I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas on having de-mountable underslung LPG tanks on a Discovery 1 3.9 V8.
My thinking is this:
1, Underslung LPG double tanks for added range and (relative) economy on the roads and to maintain the interior space for all the family, dogs and stuff.
2, being able to (quickly and safely) drop the tanks & cradle to give me the ground clearance when I want to play (on petrol) off road

Please share any advice.
Cheers

Hello,

Dont do it.

I like the idea but theres probably loads of rules and regs for you to have to make them detachable (if you even can) you dont want them flying off in the event of an accident.

Cant be bothered reading through this but a lot of the legal stuff is here:

Installation Rules and Bits Part 1 | None | DIY-LPG

Ive had them fitted to mine since I bought it about 7 years ago and have had no trouble so far, but i havent done anything too full on, greenlaning etc, to give you an example of my off roading ive still got the original front valance attached (although it is a bit wobbly) and a towbar.

It looks like they can take a knock judging by the dent in one.

More info needed: is the LPG system already fitted? how hard do you push it when "off roading"? do you do loads of road miles in it? etc.

Cheers mrnice for the advice..
I bought my Discovery 1 a couple of weeks ago with underslung on &It's getting serviced in a couple of weeks at the (almost) local LPG specialist (Autotech -Ripley Derbyshire) so I'll pick their brains.. A good sign is they are very busy as it's a 3week wait for the service..and when I went in there was a much newer discovery and A defender on the yard.

I was just wondering if anyone had tried it before?
