However, pain and cold aside, I am super proud of meself

Soon as my phone finishes charging, I'll mostly upload some photo's.... It was THAT wet today my phone kept binging at me to unplug the charger

But I'm happy to report that the dash is in....well, sitting on the framework at least.

I slowly and incrementally installed the parts and am super proud of myself.

Mate J came up to help and left a dirty print on my new carpet

But as he is a valeter, he promised to clean it up. He bloody well better o_Oo_O

You're a braver man than me Doo. Actually, I quite liked the look of it with the dash out, I would have been tempted to stick the steering wheel and a seat back in and drive it around for a few days.

No I haven't, however, the dash isn't "in" in (echo's of Mickey Flannigan, eht eht :D:D) it's just sitting there. I thought I could get some sticky backed foam strips as opposed to the whole foam section as I didn't think I could get one to be honest!

I think that's what was causing the frequent steamy windows when parked up, that and the damp carpet

You need foam around 15 mm thick. Clean all the old stuff off and the new stuff glued on then trimmed to fit. Pretty easy to do. I take it the distribution flaps had full and free movement with no binds?

Yes, all had to be moved as the new motors were centred. There was no sticking in any of the flaps, they were free and easy Like Nigel Farage :D

Good, because it would be a fools errand not to check them whilst dash is out. The lower flaps never stick but the upper distribution flaps driven by the upper motor on the right hand side do. Motor drives a white quadrant gear which in turn drives a front and rear gear. If you have not had the quadrant off no problem. If you have, be aware there are marks on quadrant that MUST align with marks on gears when moved in either direction.

Should I lubricate them with anything or leave them as they are?

If they are full and free a bit of spray oil won't do any harm i suppose. But if they are tight in any way you cannot do them properly without stripping heater. Quadrant sometimes is tight on it's pivot. Front one is usually ok. But the rear one can get very tight. The flap gears CANNOT be removed unless the shafts are withdrawn first. The shafts lock them in place. On rear gear you cannot do that without splitting heater box.

I should think sticky flaps deffo need some lube. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Worry not, my flaps are in perfect working order :p

Tonight I got the dash on, airbags in, clocks in ,wiper/indicator stalks on and fired her up (mostly because the battery was almost dead). Worryingly, there appeared several warnings from low brake fluid, ABS to gearbox nonsense.... But guess who hasn't reconnected the centre console stuff yet

I'm just pleased everything is working that should be and the bits that aren't yet connected are flagging up as faulty which means the sensors are also working ..

I think :D

Anyway, waiting for some parts. Mate promised to help clean the disgusting leather and advise me on painting the v worn bits

Is all good.

Photos tomorrow o_O

You were advised to have the battery disconnected whilst removing dashboard and not to switch ignition on until all was reconnected. Some of those may now be recorded hard faults and need diagnostics to remove.
